NCG is planning to update a Synoptic Reporting Platform to standardize reporting for pathologists and radiologists, thereby improving the quality of diagnostic reporting. Accurate and timely diagnostics are the foundation of effective cancer care.
However, traditional reporting methods for pathologists and radiologists often suffer from inconsistencies, incomplete data, and the potential for human error, which can impact the quality of care delivered to patients.
The Synoptic Reporting Platform (SRP) is a standardized, structured tool for reporting diagnostic findings, originally developed at Tata Memorial Hospital (TMH). NCG is planning to re-architect it in an effort to make it accessible and affordable for all NCG centers. Designed to improve diagnostic quality and data exchange, synoptic reporting Platform will provide pathologists and radiologists with a reliable platform for creating comprehensive and accurate reports. This will ensure that treating doctors will have easy access to essential (and complete) patient information for informed decision making.
Synoptic reporting will also facilitate seamless report sharing, support research, and aid in building clinical registries. Aggregated data from NCG Centers can potentially help develop predictive AI/ML models, advancing diagnostics, and innovation in cancer care.
Once re-architected, a synoptic reporting platform will be made available to NCG members, significantly raising reporting standards and supporting advanced research in digital pathology and radiology. Different models will be explored to ensure that NCG can leverage cutting-edge technology at an affordable cost, ensuring uniformity and excellence across the network.
As part of its broader mission, NCG is committed to discovering similar best practices like the SRP across its network and democratizing them to benefit all NCG centers.
