We are pleased to share that the Bulletin of the World Health Organization (WHO) has published a paper highlighting the Oncology Electronic Medical Records (EMR) initiative led by the National Cancer Grid (NCG) in collaboration with the Koita Centre for Digital Oncology (KCDO).
Oncology care is inherently complex-requiring multidisciplinary coordination and the management of large volumes of clinical data. Yet, most EMR systems are not designed to meet the unique demands of cancer care, especially in low-and middle-income countries (LMICs). This paper captures how a clinician-tech collaboration enabled the design and roll-out of an oncology-specific EMR ecosystem tailored to Indian cancer care settings.
Key Highlights from the Initiative:
The result is a high-quality, standardized oncology EMR solution-co-created with Indian clinicians and delivered through six empanelled vendors—now actively being adopted across the NCG network.
This initiative exemplifies how digital innovation, combined with deep clinical engagement, can transform cancer care delivery in resource-constrained settings.
