NCG EQAS Registration Portal Goes Live

February 2026

NCG EQAS Registration Portal Now Live

The National Cancer Grid (NCG) has launched the External Quality Assurance Scheme (EQAS) Registration Portal, marking an important step towards strengthening quality and standardisation in pathology across India.

Since 2017, the NCG EQAS programme has brought together 350+ oncology centres under the guiding principle of “One Practice for All,” promoting consistency, diagnostic accuracy, and continuous quality improvement. Under the leadership of Dr. Tanuja Shet, Head of Pathology at Tata Memorial Hospital, the programme has played a key role in advancing quality assurance practices nationwide, including enabling digital adoption during the COVID-19 pandemic.

KCDO’s Role in Digitisation

As part of its evolution, EQAS is being transitioned to a digital platform to improve efficiency, scalability, and data-driven quality assurance.

KCDO is supporting this initiative by working closely with the EQAS team to streamline workflows and align the platform with programme requirements. This includes defining end-to-end processes—from registration to evaluation—and enabling a structured, iterative implementation approach.

Current Status and Way Forward

The platform is being rolled out in phases:

  • Phase 1 (Live): The registration module is now live, allowing laboratories to onboard through a centralised digital system.
  • Phase 2 (In Progress): Additional features such as sample tracking, result submission, evaluation, and reporting are currently under development.

Once fully implemented, the platform will enhance standardisation, reduce manual effort, improve visibility into performance, and create a centralised system for EQAS data.

The launch of the registration portal marks a key milestone in this journey. KCDO encourages all eligible centres to participate and contribute to strengthening quality in cancer diagnostics across the country.
