16 April 2026 - Sopore, Jammu & Kashmir - Hakim Sanaullah Specialist Hospital & Cancer Centre (HSSH&CC), Sopore, has successfully gone live with its Onco-EMR system under the National Cancer Grid (NCG) and Koita Centre for Digital Oncology (KCDO) initiative. This milestone marks a significant step in the hospital’s digital transformation journey and strengthens its ability to deliver more coordinated, standardised, and technology-enabled cancer care.
Established in 2001, HSSH&CC is a 27-bed multispecialty hospital and the only dedicated cancer care centre in North Kashmir. The hospital plays a critical role in expanding access to oncology, dialysis, and specialty services, serving over 10,000 patients annually across the region.
The Onco-EMR go-live event brought together hospital leadership, representatives from NCG-KCDO, implementation partner Plus91, and distinguished guests from the state health department. The formal launch was marked by a ribbon-cutting ceremony led by Dr. Abdul Gani Raina, Chief Medical Officer, Baramulla, along with Prof. Dr. Shad Salim Akhtar, Director, HSSH&CC, and Santosh Patil, CEO – KCDO. The event concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr. Omar Salim Akhtar, Consultant Urologist & General Surgeon.
The implementation of the Onco-EMR system is expected to significantly enhance continuity of care by enabling seamless access to patient records across departments. It will support more informed clinical decision-making, reduce duplication of tests, and improve overall efficiency in care delivery.
Speaking at the event, Prof. Dr. Shad Salim Akhtar highlighted the importance of digital systems in improving healthcare delivery in the region, noting that structured data and improved access to patient information will enable better clinical outcomes. Santosh Patil, CEO – KCDO, emphasised the role of digital transformation in building a connected and future-ready cancer care ecosystem, and appreciated the strong leadership commitment demonstrated by the hospital.
The visit also included discussions on future collaborations around clinical decision support systems, AI-led innovations, and integration with national cancer registry initiatives, reflecting a broader vision for strengthening digital health capabilities at the hospital.
With this development, HSSH&CC becomes part of the growing network of institutions under NCG working towards standardised, high-quality cancer care across India.
